Banana Bread Politics

The current mood of redness at www.imood.com

My apartment is filled with the soft sweet smells of baked goods. Theres nothing like a small baking spree on a Wednesday evening.

Banana bread is the bomb-diggity. And thats that.

So I started teaching again tonight. It comes so easily to me. Theres nothing like seeing a student no matter their age feel confident in their skills and/or learn something new. Adult students tell me what a good instructor I am.

There are few things that increase my self-confidence. A complement about my teaching style is definitely one of them, though. I pride myself on my ability to connect to others in a way that makes small accomplishments easy and rewarding. When others see that, I know that I have a purpose to be here right now.

The new job should reward me in two ways the boost of confidence and the monetary benefit. I think I can handle that.

I heard the news that Wesley Clark dropped out of the Democratic Primary. This is unfortunate as he is my second choice out of the candidates. Its also unfortunate as the American public seems to want the spineless man with the chin over candidates with the vigor to actually fight for something. I voted for Dean in the Michigan primary. I am not ashamed to say that I backed the loud-mouthed liberal from Vermont. The man actually has balls to say something and not be the standard wishy-washy Democrat willing to say anything to get a single vote. Hes a fighter for national health care (and as a single young woman today its incredibly hard to find medical care let alone insurance). Hes a fighter for the environment. And hes smart enough to say that running a state government is different that the national.

I still believe that Dean as the Pres and Clark as VP would rock the socks off the middle and lower classes of the USA. They might even knock the knickers off the upper classes. God forbid we have a team thats versed in foreign policy as well as domestic tax and environmental issues.

Then again, Ive admitted to being of the modern socialist idea. Someday, maybe, Ill move to Sweden or Iceland and live with my nationalized energy and health care. Or Ill just hop the border to Canada and get lost in the northern parts of Ontario and Manitoba with my canoe. Maybe someday the US will get an administration together that spans the political spectrum to bring balance to the nation a liberal balanced with a retired general perhaps?

Ah, a girl can dream. In the mean time I will continue to pray that the younger population (18-30 year olds) will get off their whiney asses and vote. Remember, the taxes you pay today will provide you with MediCare and Social Security in the future. The politicians decisions on environment will affect your childrens health. So go vote damnit. Let your dreams come true too.
